Semi-Active Controllable Stiffness Engine Mount Utilizing Natural Rubber-Based Magnetorheological Elastomers

This study proposes the design and fabrication of a natural rubber-based magnetorheological elastomer (NR-MRE) engine mount as new device in absorbing vibration originated from automotive engine. The conceptual was performed through simulation process by Finite Element Method Magnetics to analyze magnetic field distribution. result had indicated that capable generating an equivalent density 0.31 T at effective area. MRE prepared utilizing 60 wt% carbonyl iron particles (CIPs), cavity filled compression molding. compound tested based on its basic mechanical properties, while mounts were under static load off- on-state conditions. It observed possessed good tensile strength for bearer matrix with average 12.65 MPa. Subsequently, results showed recorded increase 12% force generated compared conventional off-state condition. Meanwhile, condition 2.4 A, 106%. has demonstrated proposed can be one potential candidates control applications due stiffness controllability.
